Simon Ashmore

In this episode of Biblioscapes In Discussion I am joined by Simon Ashmore to discuss his work and his book I Am Not The Rain.

I lost a number of friends in 2017 and 2018. It was the first time I'd had to confront mortality as an adult. I responded in the way I imagine most people would: I grieved for my friends, I reflected on my own life, and I searched for some remote wisdom that would help me come to terms with the inevitability of death. But if such wisdom exists it eluded me. The only useful conclusion I could arrive at was a philosophical one. It was that I would find no convenient explanations for why we must die, but that our lives are sustained by hope.
