Julius Smit

In this episode of Biblioscapes in Discussion I am joined by Julius Smit to talk about his zine Borderline.

The photographs in the zine document the outcome of a series of walks made in October 2022, between Beachy Head and Cuckmere Haven, part of the South Downs National Park, in East Sussex, UK. Interspersed between the photographs are six poems written during the walks, composed in an 'open form/open field' structure.

We also discussed a selection of Julius’ favourite book from his own bookshelf…

  • Remains of Elmet… Ted Hughes and Faye Godwin

  • The Edge of the Land… Faye Godwin

  • Guide… William Eggleston

  • A Walk Across England… Richard Long

You can see more of Julius’ work on his website.
