Julian Calverley

In this episode of Biblioscapes in Discussion, I am joined by Julian Calverley to talk about his book North Northwest.

Its simple aim is to portray and present Julian's beautifully rich landscape works, all of which were made during multiple trips over a decade, to the Scottish Highlands and Islands.

Large and imposing like the landscapes themselves, using craft binding and embossing techniques and employing super high definition print reproduction, this book allows the reader to fully engage with Julian’s beautifully crafted work.

We also discussed a selection of Julian’s favourite photobooks from his own bookshelf…

  • The Dark Summer… Bob Carlos Clarke

  • Beneath The Roses… Gregory Crewdson

  • Journey Through The British Isles… Harry Cory Wright

  • The Road To Seeing… Dan Winters

  • A Road Divided… Todd Hido

  • The Last Stand… Marc Wilson

You can see more of Julian’s work on his website and find him on Twitter, Vero and Instagram.
