Bruce Percy

In this episode of Biblioscapes In Discussion I am joined by Bruce Percy to discuss his work and his latest book, The Sound of Snow.

“Often as I walked towards my subjects, I could swear I could hear the sound of snow. Everything around me became more closed in, more intimate”.

A retrospective of my Hokkaido images, shot in the depths of winter over the past six years. Contained within the book are 85 colour images, with an attention to subtle shade and light. Often captured during snowstorms, or in extremely delicate light, I came to Hokkaido looking for symmetry and balance and found that it was a great teacher in simplification, patience and subtlety of tone.

We also discussed a selection of Bruce’s favourite books from his own bookshelf…

  • Landscapes… Gerhard Richter

  • Peter Dombrovskis

  • Primal Places… Chris Bell

You can see more of Bruce’s work together with details of his latest book on his website.
