We May As Well Dance

DESCRIPTION

The early spring of 2020 - a time none of us are likely to forget. The thinly veiled illusion that we are in control of our lives fell away and in its place we were left to contemplate many things, not least the precarious nature of our existence.

It seemed at times as if the only constant was a wearying uncertainty and unbearable sorrow. And the unrelenting monotony of so many groundhog days. Those of us who find an outlet for our feelings in creative endeavors are the lucky ones. No need to bridge one indistinguishable week to the next - the hours are never long enough to follow through with all the new initiatives we need to pursue.

Expression, gesture, point of view, communication  - call it what you will - I am extremely humbled to have been given the chance to share mine during such a significant moment in the world's history.  Although my work is not obviously informed by the state of the planet, or politics or protest,  the images contained within the book are a personal and honest response to the events of the past 18 months.

The crisis is far from over - who knows what else is lurking? All I have done is attempt to unravel a few of the emotional complexities that have informed my experience of the pandemic and present them in the hope that they will connect with my audience on some level.
