Cold & Industrial

In 1980 I recall seeing The Jame perform live at the Manchester Apollo. After the opening song Paul Weller made a comment, ‘you northeners are cold & Industrial’. It’s still not clear to me 40 years on just what he actually meant, but it’s something that has stuck with me ever since.
The photos in this book were all made between 2017-2021 and although not intentionally, they all relate to Weller’s comment by means of their subject matter. From metal containes to over painted graffiti or builder’s skips to broken glass. Each ome made from something hidden in plain sight. I hope in some way the they give new life to these every day scenes in overlooked corners and that you the viewer can share a fraction of the enjoyment that I had in making them.
