Peter Iain Campbell

In this episode of Biblioscapes in Discussion, I am joined by Iain Campbell to talk about his work and his book We Drift Like Worried Fire.

For the last 10 years, I have navigated my way around the North Sea, hopping on/off Platform Supply Vessels {PSVs} when opportunities present themselves, photographing the towering installations that incongruously rise up from the sea depths and documenting the shifts in the Scottish sector’s offshore oil and gas industry as it gradually moves into the burgeoning end of life stage for its infrastructure - decommissioning and on-shore dismantling.

We also discussed a selection of Iain’’s favourite photobooks from his own bookshelf…

  • Raised By Wolves by Jim Goldberg

  • Desert Cantos by Richard Misrach

  • Bernd Becher and Hilla Becher

  • Sleeping By the Mississippi by Alec Soth

You can see more of Iain’s work on his website and find him on Instagram.
