David Mayne

In this episode of Biblioscapes In Discussion I am joined by David Mayne to discuss his photography and his book newport-land.

'newport-land' is a quiet reflection upon the meaning of place where human presence is all but removed, and only the structures, layouts, artefacts and the psychological space remain.

Photographed between May 2019 and July 2020, 'newport-land' represents an outsiders exploration of a city at an important time in its history.

'newport-land' is a small part of a larger and ongoing project entitled 'The Moment It Ended'.

We also discussed a selection of David’s favourite photobooks from his own bookshelf…

  • Suicide Machine… Dan Wood

  • Revolution in Hungary… Erich Lessing

  • Small Town Inertia… Jim Mortram

  • Uncommon Places… Stephen Shore

  • Orchard Beach: The Bronx Riviera… Wayne Lawrence

You can see more of David’s work on his website and find him on Instagram and Twitter.
