Arild Heitmann

In this episode of Biblioscapes in Discussion, I am joined by Arild Heitmann to talk about his work and his book Heime.

HEIME is the result of Arild Heitmann`s exploration of the nature in his home area. In many ways you can say it is a result of 35 years spent in the remote mountains, valleys and forests in this small part of Arctic Norway.

We are taken on a journey through all seasons. From the cold grip of winter in January, through the warm endless summer nights and the exploding fall colours, before the dark approaches once again. Filled with simple, yet spectacular images, you are carried away into a place of mystery and beauty.

We also discussed a selection of Arild’s favourite photobooks from his own bookshelf…

  • Artic… Vincent Munier

  • Korea… Michael Kenna

  • Faces of the North… Ragnar Axelsson

  • LYS… Sandra Bartocha & Werner Bollmann

  • The Hodaka… Takeshi Mizukoshi

You can see more of Arild’s work on his website and find him on Instagram and Twitter.
